Boggle Runners All Complete The Flora London Marathon 2005

Boggles with Flora London Marathon Medals, Ed Parr Ferris (centre), Ross Pyne (2nd from right) and Len Parr Ferris (right).

Ed Parr Ferris, Len Parr Ferris & Ross Pyne all successfully completed the Flora London Marathon on Sunday 17th April 2005. Ed & Ross completed in a time of 4:11:03 (h:mm:ss) with placings 12,108 & 12,110 respectively and Len survived leg problems at about 20 miles to complete in 4:28:54 & placed 17,007. All three runners were very happy with their times and were just happy to have completed a marathon. As well as the satisfaction of completing the marathon the Boggles have raised approximately £3,000 for their chosen charity's (exact total to follow).

For anyone reading this and thinking that we are all totally mad (you may be right). There are two major factors that I feel helped us to complete the race, firstly the hours and hundreds of miles of training in the six mouths before the day prepared our bodies for the punishment and secondly the London Marathon Experience factor carried us round. This "Experience" is different for everyone, for me it was the feeling of running with about 36,000 other people (all with their own reasons for running), the camaraderie of all those like minded people, running such a famous course & race and achieving a lifetime ambition and finally all of the support from the crowds (approx half a million people). The support from the crowds is absolutely awesome with bands playing music over every bridge & under every underpass, people handing out sweets from their front gardens and just shouting the name on the front of your vest. I recommend the experience to everyone!!

The London Marathon is defiantly a unique experience, where else can you run alongside a five times Olympic Gold Medallist (and long time personal hero) for a few moments? Indecently Sir Steven Redgrave finished the race in 4:21:36.
