Parr Ferris - Before The Plymouth Half Marathon 2004
Running has become a part of our clubs activities over the years.
It first started with a team entry in the Dartmouth Regatta Road Race back in
1999 (& I think we came 3rd). Then at the beginning of 2004 a few of us decided that it was a good idea
to have a go at some long distance running and a half marathon was the first
goal. The first race was the Great West Run (2nd May 2004) with Ross & Ed completing
in a respectable time of 1:45:53. Then we turned our attentions to the Plymouth
Half Marathon (30th May 2004) in our new running kit (above). This time Len, Ed &
Ross competed and all completed in a time of 1:48:23. The Boggles final Half
Marathon of the year was run at the Torbay event (27th June 2004), with Ross & Ed again
competing. Ed completed in a Boggle record time & personal best of 1:42:55
and Ross following up in 1:43:53 also a PB. The Boggles also entered a team in
the Dartmouth Regatta Road Race 2004 with four finishers, Ed Parr Ferris, Terry
Wallis, Steven Wallis & Ross Pyne. Then it turned serious!
Ed, Len & Ross decided to go for the big one (no not a double burger with
bacon, cheese & spicy sauce), The 2005 Flora London Marathon. In preparation
Ed & Ross entered the Fulfords 5 (mile) (6th Feb 2005) race and completed in
times of 34:26 & 34:27 respectively (69th & 70th places). Then Ed, Len &
Ross went for the Asics Fleet Pre London Half Marathon (20th Mar 2005) which
they all completed in 1:43:44, a new PB for both Ross & Len. Four weeks
later the big day arrived (17th Apr 2005), we lined up in Greenwich with
36,000 other lunatics and started the London Marathon. Ed & Ross completed
the race in 4:11:03 (12,108th & 12,110th places) with Len just behind in
4:28:54 (17,007th). To read more about the 2005 Flora London Marathon please
follow the link on the left of this page. After the
Marathon Boggle Running has quietened down a bit with only Ross running. On
the 14th May 2005 Ross competed in his first 10K race and recorded a
respectable time of 42:16 & 118th place this race was closely followed by
the Plymouth Half Marathon. Ross completed this one in 1:35:19 & 316th
place, he set a new Boggle record time and improved his PB by over 8
minutes. |
