WEARA Rowing

W.E.A.R.A. is the West of England Amateur Rowing Association and they are responsible for a 10 Regatta series of skiff & sculling races throughout the westcountry. Dartmouth is the biggest of these events with over 460 individuals competing in eights, fours, pairs and single sculls categories.

Although there has been very little Boggle participation in this racing over the last couple of years, we all still have a great interest. The Boggles founder members were all members of Dartmouth Amateur Rowing Club during the 1990's and we learned the skills of rowing from the Rowing School. From 1991 Boggle members started competing in WEARA competitions and in 1992 an all Boggle crew of Ed Parr Ferris, Ross Pyne, Shaun Barker & Dave Rogers became the first Boggles to win a West of England Championship. Boggle members now have inexcess of 30 WEARA Championship medals.

The WEARA races are held on the Thursday of regatta week, please take the time to watch some of the racing and visit the Rowing Club (just above the higher ferry) for a bite to eat &/or a drink.
